How to add light easily in Procreate.

For as long as I can remember, I've been seeing artwork online with amazing lighting and shadowing. I thought to myself, wow this must take a ton of skill and technique. I've experimented with methods within Procreate to help me quickly achieve the 'look' without having to stress over perfect technique. I have found a way to achieve the look of light without having to tamper with each layer and use multiple colors on my color palette. Check out how I did it below!

1) Add a layer above all other artwork layers.
2) Using the 'Soft Brush' brush in the 'Airbrushing' section of Procreate, draw white light beams where appropriate. Depending on what type of artwork you are adding light to, the type of light you are drawing will vary.

At this point, your light layer should be on the "Normal" setting.

3) Scroll under "Normal" to find "Overlay."

4) Click "Overlay," your artwork should now look as if it has a light source.

Keep your layer on the "Overlay" setting.
